Our Charter

Below is our charter, the base of ColCraft's legal system.

Wondering why some of the unnamed colonies aren't on this list?  We recently stopped counting colonies that were inactive and didn't choose a name, as to more accurately reflect our player count.

  1. FOREWARD

ColCraft is a server focused on simulation of world events.  All non enumerated powers are reserved for the server administrator.  All colonies participating in the ColCraft server must abide by these rules and regulations or face potential dissolution of their colony(s).

  1. DEFINITION OF TERMS

The following terms are defined as such:

A

A “admin” is a server administrator.  The only server administrator is Galena.

An “alliance” is a union between two (2) or more colonies.  It can be binding or open.

B

A “backup” is a copy of the world in a file form.  Backups may only be taken by the server administrator.

A “bit” is a set unit of stationary currency whose value does not fluctuate with time.

A “border block” is a block that that defines a colony’s territory.

A “boundary” is a claim.

A “border” is a claim.

C

A “citizen” is a person belonging to or managing the affairs of a colony.

A “claim” is an area completely outlined by one or multiple border block(s).

A “colony” is a formally recognized member or group of members that has land.

The “connection of blocks” is when two blocks are adjacent by a pixel or more.

The “council” is a collection of voting members combined as a governing body.  If the council has open seat(s) available, the new members will be selected by a majority vote of all current council members.

A “court” is the gathering of two (2) or more colonies to discuss a legal dispute or proceeding.  A class II or class III dispute requires three (3) or more colonies in attendance.

F

A “forced absence” is when a colony would like to attend but cannot due to prior, out of game commitments.  If a colony can interact via video call, the server administrator decides whether it qualifies as a forced absence.

A “formal recognition” is recognition from the server administrator.

H

The “horizontal plane” is the x and z axes in space.

M

A “majority” is when the colonies voting ‘for’ are more numerous than the colonies voting ‘against’.

P

A “prison” is a center where players are confined.  While imprisoned, prisoners are subject to the law of that colony where the prison is held.  Prisoners may attempt to escape but may not place or destroy blocks or items.

A “property” is a territory, object, or item that is owned by a colony.

S

A “server administrator” is the person who created the server.  The server administrator is Galena.

A “server director” is a director of government elected by a majority council vote.

T

A “territory” is a claim.

V

The “vertical plane” is the y axis in space.

A “vote to dissolve” is a vote to dissolve a colony temporarily.

W

A “war” is a military conflict between two (2) or more colonies.

  2. COLONY EXISTENCE

In order for a colony to be formally recognized, it must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have a clearly indicated border block different from those of other colonies

  • Must have agreed to abide by the rules and regulations set forth in this document

  • Must have land claimed

  • Must be recognized by at least one (1) existing colony or the server administrator                                                                    DISSOLUTION OF A COLONY

In order for a colony to temporarily lose its formal recognition, it must either:

  1. Must have violated the rules and regulations set forth in this document AND have the server administrator’s vote to dissolve

OR

  1. meet four (4) of the following requirements:

  • Must have no land or fewer than one hundred (100) blocks on the horizontal plane

  • Must have two-thirds (â…”) of the colonies’ vote to dissolve.

  • Must have two-thirds (â…”) of the council vote to dissolve.

  • Must not be involved in any current war.

  • Must have the server administrator’s vote to dissolve.

  • Must not have been active for the past three (3) months.

    III.    BOUNDARIES

A colony’s claim exists if there is an unbroken connection of blocks that outlines a territory.  A border block officially covers the entire vertical plane of a block so that the blocks on the same horizontal plane as the border block are valid claims.  Claims made over water DO exist but can be disputed in court.  If court cannot decide the outcome of the dispute, the claim exists until it is found to not exist OR the dispute can be resolved by the server administrator.  Any citizens of a colony can set foot on any territory that is claimed by another colony but may not place or destroy blocks or items in that region.  The aforementioned citizens can, however, interact with blocks (with the exception of TNT) and push buttons, flick levers, step on pressure plates, and trigger tripwires.  If the aforementioned citizens place or destroy blocks or items, they are subject to the laws of that colony until they set foot on their own claim

OR until one (1) hour has passed since the infraction, which transfers the matter to the server administrator

BORDER BLOCKS

Border blocks must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be a solid block.

  2. Must be able to place said block with one click and without the use of commands.

  3. Must not be interactable.  Interactable is defined as such: any block that can produce or affect a block or that can house a block inside of it.

  4. Cannot be affected by any other block (with the exception of pistons and TNT).

  5. Must not be affected by gravity.

  6. Must not also qualify as an item.  Item is defined by any game element that is not solid.

  7. Must not drop any block other than itself when destroyed with a diamond pickaxe.

  8. Must be obtainable in survival mode

   IV. WARFARE

  1. RULES OF WARFARE

The rules of warfare are as follows:

  1. A backup of the server must be made prior to the start of the war.  This is the server administrator’s responsibility.

  2. A colony can declare war at any time, but must state a reason, however trivial.

  3. No property can be destroyed without both colonies’ consent.

  4. All other terms of war must be agreed upon by both parties AND must be agreed upon via a majority in the council OR

agreed upon by the server administrator.

  1. A war is concluded when all participating parties agree to cease fighting                                    OR when a two-thirds (â…”) of the council and at least fifty percent (50%) of the parties involved vote to cease fighting.

  1. ALLIANCES

An alliance can be established only with all colonies’ consent.  An alliance can be binding, meaning that it cannot be dissolved without all colonies’ consent, or it can be open, meaning that only one colony is needed to dissolve it.  An alliance’s terms must be set and agreed to by all colonies involved.

    V.     LEGAL DISPUTES

Verbal evidence cannot be used in court unless with permission of the defense to do so.  There are three (3) types of legal disputes, class I, class II, and class III.  In order for a colony to cast a vote, they must either be in attendance OR have a written statement of their vote

OR have three (3) or more colonies to vouch that that colony voted.  If any colony is found to have lied in court, that colony’s vote is discredited and that colony is immediately confined to the nearest prison.

    1. LOGOS

The following consist of formally recognized logos and cannot be reproduced, modified, or used without permission in any way:

      1. ColCraft General Logo

      2. ColCraft General Logo With Department

  1.  CLASS I

A class I dispute is a dispute that involves less than three (3) colonies and does not pose a threat to the well-being of two (2) or more colonies on the server.  Class I disputes do not merit a council

and are resolved in court

OR

by the server administrator.  The server administrator’s power to resolve the particular class I dispute can be retracted if a majority of the colonies involved vote to do so.

  1. CLASS II

A class II dispute is a dispute that involves five (5) or less colonies and poses a threat to the well-being of two (2) or more colonies on the server, but does not require intervention or involvement from the server administrator.  Class I disputes can be resolved in court or a council if all involved colonies vote to do so.

OR if the council cannot reach a decision via two-thirds (â…”) vote, by the server administrator.  The server administrator’s power to resolve the particular class II dispute can be retracted if two-thirds (â…”) of the colonies involved

OR a majority of the council vote to do so.

  1. CLASS III

A class III dispute is a dispute that is neither a class I nor a class II dispute.  Once a class III dispute has been formally recognized, a council must be called immediately to discuss the issue.  If war is not declared during the council, a court must be held immediately following the issue.  If a colony is in chosen absence of the council or court, it no longer has any say in that particular class III dispute.  If a colony is in forced absence and decision depends on that colony’s vote, the court will be adjourned until that colony is available to resolve the dispute.

    VI.     ECONOMICS

  1.   BIT SYSTEM

ColCraft runs on the bit system, which consists of set units of stationary currency to prevent inflation.  Bits may not be divided or combined.  Bits may also not be removed from the Bit Trading Center (BTC) under any circumstances.

  1. RESTRICTION AND REGULATION OF CURRENCY

Bits may be traded and all transactions over ten (10) bits must be recorded in the transaction book.  Transactions under ten (10) bits may be recorded as well for evidence purposes in legal disputes.   In order for a transaction to occur, all involved colonies must agree to the transaction.  THE BIT SYSTEM IS THE ONLY VALID SYSTEM OF CURRENCY.  ANY OTHER CURRENCY SYSTEM IS INVALID AND WILL NOT BE BACKED AS LEGAL TENDER.

    VII. GOVERNMENT

The government is headed by a server director, who can be impeached by two-thirds (â…”) council vote

OR

by one-half (½) council vote, including the approval of the server administrator.  The director can serve a maximum of 150 total days.  The government consists of the following departments:
